Fargesia murielae is extremely hardy. It thrives in shade. Umbrella bamboo has a soft, cascading canopy of lustrous evergreen foliage. The canopy can be approximately three times the width of the base. New culm growth is a delicate pale blue with golden sheaths. When mature, the stalks turn a beautiful hue of yellow. Loved by Pandas for its edible shoots. The rhizome is extremely hardy, but the foliage is less so. Use winter cover to enable good growth in a variety of zones. Loves Nettle Tea as a fertilizer.
