Ribes uva-crispa 'Hinnonmaki Yellow', known as Hinnonmaki Yellow Gooseberry is an upright shrub, growing to about 5 feet tall, and 3 feet wide. A nice addition to your fruit garden; and also makes a wonderful short hedge. This green gooseberry plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight; and moist, well-drained soil.
The small, yellow-green spring blooms contrast nicely with dark green foliage (which turns golden in autumn). Large, sweet yellow fruits ripen from early summer onwards. Fruits hang individually, and do not cluster as with other Gooseberries. Great eaten fresh or prepared in pies, and preserves.
Originally from Finland, this disease-resistant gooseberry variety is especially resistant to powdery mildew.
