Citrus sinensis 'Washington', commonly known as Washington Navel Orange tree produces large, seedless, sweet and juicy, bright orange fruit. A small, hybrid evergreen tree of glossy aromatic leaves, it is thought to be a cross between a hybrid mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata) and a hybrid pomelo (Citrus maxima).
Easy to peel, Washington Navel Oranges are prized for fresh eating. The fruits are round to slightly oval in shape, and can vary in size from 2-5" in diameter. Interiors are orange to orange-red. Its clusters of fragrant, creamy white flowers bloom in early spring.
Washington Navel Orange is grafted on flying dragon rootstock. It can grow up to 6 ft tall.
Grow as a specimen plant in a large pot or container, especially where you can enjoy its fragrance. Place Washington Navel Semi-Dwarf Orange tree next to a patio, a deck or an outdoor eating area, where it will be easy to harvest for meals and drinks. Grow several as a hedge or screen. Must be brought indoors when the temperature dips below -6 °C.
