Moonlight Japanese Hydrangea Vine (Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight') is valued for its silvery, blue-green, heart-shaped leaves with serrated edges (3-5" across); reddish brown stems; and large, flat-topped clusters (8-10" across) of creamy white flowers. Flowers bloom for 6 to 8 weeks, starting in early summer, with a lovely fragrance reminiscent of apples and lilies.

Growing to 30 feet long and 9 feet wide at maturity, Moonlight Japanese Hydrangea Vine is a great climber, both twining and using aerial rootlets to attach to a wide variety of structures. It is excellent vine for a massed effect on brick or concrete walls, arbors, and gazebos. It can be slow to establish and bloom, but it is very hardy, and drought tolerant once established.
