Ficus carica 'Petite Negra' is an impressive, super dwarf fig tree that produces delicious, deep purple black fruits with deep red flesh. Petite Negra Tree will start bearing fruit at a young age (1 to 2 years after planting), and even before it reaches 12 inches tall. The fruit eye is very small to insignificant, which will help to avoid spoilage.

This Purple Fig has mitten shaped, large, palmate, lobed foliage that is dark green on the face, and light green beneath. It is a self-fertile, dwarf fig tree, and produces non-showy green flowers inside a hollow receptacle. It is compact, and grows up to 3 to 4 feet in height. The habit of this black fig tree makes it very easy to grow in pots. Figs do well in various soils, and requires a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of sunlight.

Petite Negra Fig tree grows well in containers year-round; the pots can restrict the growth and help to contain the size. It is from warmer climates, and will need a bit of help to survive in Canada. It can be moved outside during summer and back inside in winter. This deciduous shrub will shed leaves and slowly go to dormancy during winter. It requires less water during dormancy period, but the soil should never be completely dry.
