Clematis 'Lemon Dream' (Lemon Dream Clematis) is a magnificent woody vine that flaunts large, lemon-yellow blooms. The double clematis flowers are pleasantly grapefruit-scented, and exceptionally large for the Atragene Group. The distinctive, bell shaped, nodding flowers are 10-12 cm wide. Set on purple pedicles, the semi-double blooms start as lime-green buds, emerge as lemon-yellow, then fade to a creamy white colour over time. This Yellow Bell-shaped Clematis has stamens and anthers that are also yellow. Flowers bloom in May, and occasionally again in August. This light yellow clematis produces showy, fluffy seedheads in the fall. The attractive foliage is large, trifoliate, and dark green.

Typically, these Atragene Group Clematis vines are best planted near a trellis or fence to climb on, but they can also look good sprawling over shrubs, stumps or in perennial gardens as a groundcover. Atragene Clematis requires some kind of support to climb but will attach itself to it through its twining leaf petioles. Lemon Dream Clematis can reach up to 3 m (10 ft) tall. This double yellow Clematis is best planted in a location where the foliage and flowers are mostly in the sun, but the roots are kept cool and moist in the shade. Consider using mulch around the root zone in summer and fall. Pruning Group: 1.

Pruning Groups:
Group 1 – Flowers only on old wood (previous year). Prune after spring flowering.
Group 2 – Flowers on both old and new wood. Little pruning should be done for woody-stemmed members of this Group. If cut to the ground or pruned in fall or spring, flowering will be reduced or delayed, but not prevented.
Group 3 – Flowers only on new wood. Can be cut to the ground in fall or spring.
