Magenta Grape (Vitis ‘Magenta’) is a seedless black grape prized for its exceptional sweetness (Brix approx. 23°) and rich, almost cherry-like flavour. Selected for both taste and texture, the medium-sized, round berries feature deep blue skin and firm, juicy flesh with reddish tones. This is a slipskin variety, meaning the skin separates easily from the flesh. Ideal for fresh eating, Magenta Seedless Grape is also well suited to preserves, juice, and winemaking.

Hardy to zone 4b (-31.5 °C), this blue grape vine requires support and performs beautifully when trained on a fence, trellis, pergola, or other sturdy structure. Its lush green foliage provides attractive summer shade and can serve as a natural privacy screen.

While considered almost seedless, this black grape may carry a few seeds on exceptional years under specific soil and climate conditions (drought for example). Magenta seedless grape requires 1150 temperature degree-days (1150 daylight hours at 10 °C) to produce mature fruits. Large clusters of fruit ripen from mid to late September, adding ornamental interest while also attracting birds and mammals - be sure to harvest promptly!

This black table grape was selected by the famous breeder, Elmer Swenson. It is the result of cross between 'Suelter' and 'Venus'.

Magenta Grape (Vitis 'Magenta') is self-fertile and attracts pollinators to the garden. This blue grape thrives best in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained soil. An excellent choice for both ornamental appeal and outstanding eating quality.
