An award-winning plant, Astilbe thunbergii 'Ostrich Plume' is a clumping perennial, with lush, deeply cut dark green foliage tinged with bronze, when it emerges in the spring. This plant’s stunning flowers are very open, coral-rose, weeping panicles on arching stems. Light and airy, they move with the slightest breeze.

Plant Ostrich Plume Astilbe in part shade to shade, as they will burn in the sun, and will not bloom well in deep shade. They are happy in moist soil, and are tolerant of very moist soil. A great companion to Brunnera and Hosta in shaded areas along creeks and ponds.

Also known as Astilbe thunbergii 'Straussenfeder', Straussenfeder Astilbe is a wonderful woodlands plant, as well as putting on a lovely show in pots and containers; and makes a dramatic addition to floral arrangements with its weeping branches of pink flowers. Ostrich Plume False Spirea attracts bees and hummingbirds. Deer and rabbit resistant; and Juglans (Walnut) tolerant.
