Actinidia chinensis 'Minkimale' (Minkimale Golden Kiwi) is a deciduous, non-fruiting woody vine. 'Minkimale' is an Actinidia chinensis male cultivar selected to pollinate Actinidia chinensis 'Minkigold', as well as other Female Golden Kiwi varieties (such as 'Kiwi Wonder' and 'Yellow Queen). Planting a Male Golden Kiwi near female varieties is necessary to enable fruit production. Only one male Kiwi plant is required to pollinate 6 to 8 females.

Large, slightly fragrant, white flowers that are more attractive than those of other kiwi species, such as A. arguta and A. kolomikta. Minkimale Kiwi blooms appear between May and June on previous years' vine growth.

This fast-growing woody vine can grow large and tall, reaching about 10 m in height. Male Yellow Kiwi Vine is hardy to zone 7b (-15 °C or 5 °F). For gardeners living in colder areas than zone 7b, it is recommended to plant early in the season to give the plants time to establish; consider applying mulch around the roots in the fall; and cover at least the basal stems with a winter cover. Alternatively, it can be grown in a large container that can be brought in a cold frame greenhouse during the coldest months. Once established, female plants and a pollinating male plant could be planted in the same container in order to save space.

Please use availability information as a guide only. The weather is a fickle thing, and impacts when our plants are actually available for shipping. Please be aware that we are not answering emails regarding plants availability. The best advice we can give you is to check back once in a while, choose a size option and check the current stock.
