Actindia arguta aslo known as Tara Vine, Bower Actinidia or Mini Kiwi, displays an attractive red stems with green foliage combinaison all summer long. Fruits reach up to 3,5cm in length and 2,5cm in width. Their skin and flesh are green. VITIKIWI® is a parthenocarpic variety (it is capable of inducing fruit production without fertilisation of its ovules by a male variety). As such it is considered a self-pollinating kiwi cultivar that do not necessarily requires separate male pollinator for fruit production. However, especially in hardiness zone 5b, it will improve its yield to be planted near a male variety.
In order to pollinate 6 to 8 female Kiwi plants one male Kiwi plant is required. We recommend to plant one of the following male varieties alongside your female Kiwi plants: Actinidia arguta ‘Weiki M’, Actinidia arguta ‘Meader’ or Actinidia arguta ‘Andrew’. This variety can withstand temperatures as low as -26 °. VITIKIWI® is a slightly hardier than the other self-pollinating variety 'Issaï'.
