Clematis MY ANGEL™ is popular for its abundance of small, showy, and unique blooms. Each nodding flower has four sepals that are yellowish bronze on the inside and faded reddish purple on the outside with the same yellowish bronze colour on the edges. The flowers produce silky, attractive seed heads in the fall. This Yellow Clematis also has beautiful, purple-coloured stems. It blooms throughout the summer between June and September.
It is often inaccurately listed as Clematis tangutica 'My Angel. Clematis 'My Angel' is the result of a cross-breeding between clematis var. orientalis and clematis intricata. The variety has been selected by Mr. Wim Snoeijer, in the Netherlands.
Clematis vines are most often planted near a trellis, patio wall, or some structure for support. They can also be planted sprawling over shrubs, stumps, or through perennial gardens. This golden Clematis is also well suited as a gound cover.
Clematis is best planted in a location where the foliage and flowers are mostly in the sun, but the roots are kept cool and moist in the shade. Consider using mulch around the root zone in summer and fall. Pruning Group: 3
Pruning Groups:
Group 1 – Flowers only on old wood (previous year). Prune after spring flowering.
Group 2 – Flowers on both old and new wood. Little pruning should be done for woody-stemmed members of this Group. If cut to the ground or pruned in fall or spring, flowering will be reduced or delayed, but not prevented.
Group 3 – Flowers only on new wood. Can be cut to the ground in fall or spring.
