Yucca filamentosa 'Color Guard' (Yucca) is a showy perennial, with sword-like creamy-yellow leaves with green margins. Long filamentous curly white threads are found along the leaf margins. Leaves radiate out from a central basal mound, and take on a lovely rosy hue in the cooler months of fall.
Color Guard Adam's Needle features tall, bold stalks of large, creamy white, nodding bell-shaped flowers. The fragrant flowers of this green and yellow yucca bloom early to midsummer. They open up at ngiht and emit a deeply sweet scent attracting the plant's sole pollinator, the Yucca moth.
This golden variegated yucca brings wonderful texture to the garden and pairs well with other mounding plants, like ornamental grasses. Fits right in in Mediterranean and contemporary gardens. Color Guard Variegated Adam's Needle creates big impact when planted en masse in planters.
Like most Yucca, Color Guard Yucca is a tough, hardy succulent. Not one to be knocked about by snowfall, it stays upright in winter. Loves dry soils and sun, although it is tolerant of some shade throughout the day. Evergreen, heat and drought tolerant; and deer resistant.
