Agastache 'Kudos Red’

Kudos Red Hyssop plant (Agastache 'Kudos Red') is a hybrid cultivar, developed for its compact size and vibrant red colour. This prolific, upright and clump forming perennial has showy, true red flower spikes atop fragrant foliage that has excellent resistance to downy mildew.

This Hyssop is also known as Kudos Red Hummingbird Mint. As its common name suggests, this plant is a hummingbird magnet with its trumpet-shaped, nectar-laden blossoms. Butterflies, bees and other pollinators will also visit alongside the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds!

The long blooming season of Kudos Red Anise Hyssop plant will keep your garden beds, borders and containers bright and cheerful midsummer through to early fall. This dwarf perennial is also well suited for rock gardens and xeriscaping as it prefers full sun with dry to moist, well drained soil. The better the drainage, the happier the plant! Kudos Red Agastache leaves release a pleasant minty fragrance when bruised. Both foliage and flowers are edible. The scented foliage is good for flavouring drinks and drying.

You can bring the beautiful vivid red colour indoors for your bouquets, as Kudos Red Anise Hyssop makes a good cut flower with a spike height of  up to 1.5 feet. In the garden, deadhead spent flowers if you want to promote additional blooms.

Deer and rabbit resistant, Kudos Red Agastache is an appealing compact perennial for long seasonal colour in a sun loving, well-drained garden.
