Red Jade' red currant bush (Ribes rubrum Red Jade™) is covered with striking clusters of sparkling, translucent scarlet berries. High in antioxidants and vitamin C, Red Jade currant offers a pleasantly tart flavour that is excellent for fresh eating, as well as for making jams and jellies. It is a mid-late season currant variety. In late July, the fruit attracts a variety of birds, delighting birdwatchers as currants are a staple food for many species.

This vigorous, disease-resistant red currant variety features green palmate leaves that turn a rich yellow in fall. In spring, long clusters of self-fertile greenish-yellow flowers appear. While not showy, these delicate blooms are attractive upon close inspection and provide an important nectar source for pollinators.

With its upright and dense growth habit, 'Red Jade' red currant bush is an excellent choice for a medium edible hedge, offering privacy, wind protection, and natural landscape definition. Its exceptionally long, pendulous berry clusters also give it strong ornamental appeal, allowing it to be grown as a striking specimen plant.

Exceptionally cold hardy to zone 3a (–40 ⪚C), Red Jade Currant prefers moist, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Low maintenance and easy to grow, it provides both ornamental beauty and reliable fruit production.
