The red creeping thyme is a sun-loving herb valued as an ornamental groundcover. Forms a showy carpet of dark green leaves that are covered in bright magenta-red flowers from early summer through midsummer. In fall, the foliage turns a beautiful bronze. A versatile trailer, it is at its best when planted between pavers in the garden, spilling out of containers, or cascading over walls. The leaves are aromatic. Rich in nectar, the tiny tubular flowers attract butterflies. Deer resistant.
