Introduced in 1975, Dublin Bay Rose (Rosa 'Dublin Bay') quickly earned a place in both cottage and formal gardens with its wonderful red blooms and light fragrance. It is a vigorous red climbing rose, with clusters of double, true red blooms; and glossy, rich dark-green foliage. The double flowers have a high count (25) of delightful rounded petals and measure up to 4" (10 cm) in diameter. This red hardy climbing rose begins blooming in June, and blooms until September.
A 10 foot vine, with a spread of up to 5 feet, it is perfect for archways, pergolas, and large trellises. Although somewhat slow to climb, it will reach full height within 3 to 5 years.
Dublin Bay large-flowered Climbing Rose enjoys full sun (but will tolerate light shade), and is hardy to USDA Zone 5a. Blooms on both new and old wood. This red double-flowered climbing rose attracts bees to the garden.
