Pink Gas Plant (Dictamnus albus 'Rosea') is a unique, perennial plant with beautiful, spiked clusters of fragrant flowers on sturdy, upright stems. The attractive, pink blooms have prominent dark veins on the petals, and bloom from late spring to early summer. They mature to beautiful, star-shaped seed pods, which provide ornamental interest. Pink Fraxinella has elegant, leathery, lance-shaped, green leaves that stay attractive throughout the season. The leaves have a pleasant lemony fragrance when rubbed or crushed. Pink Gas Plant is an ornamental wonder that can be used in borders, beds, and containers. The long flower spikes make great cut flowers.
Dictamnus albus 'Rosea' grows well in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate light shade, and performs best in areas with cool nights. Pink Gas Plant can grow up to 2.5 feet in height and 1.5 feet wide. This perennial is slow to establish, difficult to divide, and better kept undisturbed. It is long-lived, low maintenance, very hardy (zone 2a) and it can tolerate drought once established. Pink Dittany has no serious pests or disease issues. Please note: for some people, the sap can cause photosensitivity reaction of the skin, and its flowers and dried seeds emit a gas (a volatile oil) that can be ignited with a flame.
