A modern large-flowered Climbing Rose, Antike 89 Rose (Rosa 'Antike 89') was introduced in 1988. It is an exquisite, showy climber with clusters of large (to 4.5”) double flowers. Antique Rose blooms start out white with a pink edge, and gradually darken to carmine. A continual bloomer, the cupped to flat blooms have a high count (26-40) of delightful, rounded petals.
A vigorous, narrow upright climber (grows to 10 feet tall and 4 feet wide), Antique 89 Hardy Climbing Rose is wonderful trained to a free-standing pillar, across fences and walls. The special blooms and glossy, dark green foliage have a place in any garden. Makes a wonderful cut flower.
Hardy to USDA Zone 4a, this pink and white Climbing Rose will grow in a variety of soils, and full sun. A very low maintenance rose. There is some debate as to the intensity of fragrance. It is noted as having anywhere from moderate to little fragrance. This long blooming-season Rose attracts bees to the garden.
