Florida Pearl Pinberry is one of the largest pineberries on the market. It has been developed by frequent hybridization of modern red strawberries with Japanese white strawberries at the University of Florida.
Fragaria 'Florida Pearl' (‘FL 16.78-109’)' produces abundant giant, white strawberries with a light pinky blush and red seeds that brighten when ripe. This Pineberry has sweet white flesh with distinctive a flavour, pineapple-like aroma, and low acid.
Florida Pearl Strawberry prefers full sun, and moist, well-drained soil. Plants can grow 8 to 10 inches in height, 8 to 12 inches wide, and requires a spacing of 12 to 24 inches.
