Parfianka Pomegranate, is a unique and popular variety that features beautiful, large, bright red fruit with soft, edible seeds. Originally imported from Dr. Gregory Levin at the Garrigala agricultural station in Turkmenistan, Parfianka Pomegranate Tree is a favoured selection from a collection of over 1000 Pomegranate varieties. Its sweet, high quality, flavourful fruit can be eaten fresh, or used for juicing, in salads and jellies, and in dried spice mixtures. Also, use to make Grenadine, a Pomegranate syrup at home. It is a refreshing addition to fizzy waters and cocktails.

A multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub Parfianka Pomegranate grows up to 10 feet tall, but is easy to keep smaller by pruning. Great in containers. The gorgeous, orange-red blooms look almost tropical, and are reminiscent of hibiscus flowers.

Parfianka Pomegranate tree is easy to grow, and mostly pest and disease free. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It takes 2 to 3 years for the Parfianka pomegranate plant to start bearing fruit. Under the right conditions, it is not unusual to get fruit after the first year. Expect harvest to be between September and November.

Punica granatum ‘Parfianka’ are reported to be hardy to below -12 °C. They are self-fertile, but planting a second variety nearby could improve fruit production. Punica granatum 'Parfianka' require 200 chill hours (= being exposed to 200 hours below 10 °C) for proper growth.

With minimal maintenance, it will produce luscious fruits year after year. Foliage turns a nice yellow in fall.
