China Satsuma S-2 Mandarin Tree (Citrus unshiu 'China Satsuma S-2') is prized for its abundant crops of early ripening, flavourful, sweet, juicy, easy-to-peel fruits. Naturally compact and easy to grow, this excellent Chinese selection features prolific fragrant flowers in winter, and is great for container growing.
The full-size (3-4 inch), usually seedless fruit of Satsuma Mandarin is great for eating fresh, for salads and desserts, and for use in many Asian dishes, such as Mandarin Chicken.
Hardy to Zone 9a (-6.5 °C (20 °F)), move the China Satsuma S-2 Mandarin Orange plant inside to a sunny location in the fall for protection from the winter cold. The green, tropical foliage and deliciously fragrant flowers of this dwarf citrus tree will freshen any room, and help to rid the winter blahs! Self-fertile. However, if it blooms indoors in the winter months, pollination with a small brush will assist in setting fruit. An excellent ornamental and productive specimen.
