Father of the Bride Hellebore plant (Helleborus ‘Father of the Bride’ WEDDING PARTY®), has fully double blooms reaching up to 6 cm (2.5 in) across. The handsome buttercream yellow flowers have burgundy wine speckles densely concentrated at the centre to create a striking ‘eye’ effect, before gradually softening and dispersing toward the petal edges.

Hellebores are prized for their vigour, showy floral displays and large numbers of blossoms per plant. Father of the Bride Hellebore is part of the distinguished WEDDING PARTY® Series, bred by Hans Hansen, showcasing richly coloured, double-flowered selections celebrated for their exceptional garden performance.

The most distinguishing feature of Father of the Bride Hellebore plant is its elegant, side-facing flower orientation, rather than the usual ‘nodding’ habit typical of most double-flowered varieties. This unique trait - more commonly associated with single-flowered forms - allows admirers to fully appreciate the intricate petal structure and colouration without having to lift or reposition the blooms.

Often regarded as a harbinger of spring, hellebores are among the earliest perennials to bloom, bringing fresh life and colour to the garden. They provide an important early-season source of nectar and pollen for bees and other beneficial pollinators. Excellent for fresh cut floral arrangements, the blooms are also traditionally displayed floating in a shallow bowl of water, creating an elegant centerpiece.

After flowering finishes in May, the deeply lobed green foliage of Father of the Bride Hellebore plant continues to provide texture and visual interest throughout the growing season. Thriving in partial to full shade, hellebores are ideal for mass planting beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, along borders and in containers. They naturalize beautifully in moist woodland settings, where their extensive root systems gradually expand. Hardy to zone 4a, this double red and yellow Hellebore is low maintenance, drought and salt-tolerant, and resistant to deer and rabbits.
