Helleborus ‘French Kiss’ HONEYMOON®, commonly known as French Kiss Hellebore (Lenten Rose), produces large, elegant five-sepalled blooms reaching up to 9 cm (3.5 in.) across. Each white sepal is delicately veined with raspberry-pink that radiates toward the centre and is edged with a fine picotee margin. A dramatic dark eye - sometimes extending into the throat - beautifully contrasts with the creamy yellow stamens. The nodding, cup-shaped flowers reveal soft pink reverses, adding depth and interest to every bloom.
Hellebores are prized for their vigour, floriferous habit, and impressive floral displays. French Kiss Hellebore is part of the distinguished HONEYMOON® Series, bred by Hans Hansen, featuring richly coloured, single-flowered selections renowned for their exceptional garden performance and reliability.
Once flowering finishes in May, the deeply lobed, rich green foliage continues to provide texture and structure throughout the growing season.
Thriving in partial to full shade, hellebores are ideal for mass planting beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, along shaded borders, or in containers. They naturalize beautifully in moist woodland settings, where their robust root systems gradually expand over time. Hardy to Zone 4, French Kiss Lenten Rose is low-maintenance, drought- and salt-tolerant once established, and resistant to deer and rabbits.
Often considered a harbinger of spring, hellebores are among the earliest perennials to bloom, bringing welcome colour and vitality to the landscape. Their early blossoms provide an important source of nectar and pollen for bees and other beneficial pollinators. This pink and white Hellebore plant produces excellent flowers for fresh-cut arrangements. The blooms are also traditionally floated in shallow bowls of water to create a simple yet elegant centerpiece.
