Vaccinium corymbosum 'Northsky' is one of the most cold hardy blueberry varieties on the market. It is able to withstand temperatures of -45° C. This dwarf, compact plant has a dense canopy that enables it to both tolerate snow loads, and enjoy the protection they offer its buds in severe winter cold.
Northsky is a beautiful ornamental plant in the landscape. In spring, it is completely covered in snow white, tiny, bell-shaped blossoms. In fall, its dense foliage plant turns brilliant red. Flowers are decoratively set to the outside of the plant, as are the berries, making them easy to pick. This compact blueberry is considered a mid-season blueberry. Berries begin to ripen in July. In the middle of its two-month fruiting season, Northsky Dwarf Blueberry can produce 1 to 5 pounds of fresh small, soft and sweet sky-blue berries. Blueberries are a delicious superfruit, high in antioxidants.
Northsky is a Half-High Blueberry and will need another blueberry for pollination. It likes an organically rich acidic soil. Perfect for containers and planters, and mass planting.
