Dwarf Balsam Fir Tree (Abies balsamea 'Nana') is a native cultivar to Canada. This globular-shaped dwarf variety grows only 1 foot to 2 feet tall, making it a perfect specimen shrub for a small garden. In a larger garden, Dwarf Canada Balsam Tree would work well as a border / edging shrub. It is also a good choice for a rock garden.

The green needles of Nana Balsam Fir are mildly aromatic with white bands on the undersides, growing on dense, laterally spreading branches. The small cones are an attractive dark purple when they first emerge.

Dwarf Balsam Fir tree is a slow growing, and low maintenance evergreen. This cultivar will grow well in full sun to partial shade, in moist, well-drained soil. Birds are attracted to the cones of Dwarf Canada Balsam Tree. It is both deer and rabbit resistant.
