Ambersweet Orange is a fragrant, unique, complex Orange hybrid. Since one of the parents was part tangelo (a tangerine-grapefruit hybrid) Ambersweet would be 3/8 tangerine, 1/8 grapefruit and 1/2 sweet orange.
Citrus ‘Ambersweet’ Orange is a very early ripening sweet orange, making it an excellent variety for northern gardeners growing citrus in pots. Moderately cold hardy, but not recommended below hardiness zone 9a for outside growing.
Ambersweet is a dual use orange that is used for both orange juice and for eating fresh out of hand. The fruit is seedless, but can contain seeds if cross pollinated.
Blooms in late winter to early spring. Fruit ripens November to December. Bears sweet, practically seedless, pyramidal shaped oranges with pebbly, easy-to-peel skin. It starts bearing fruits 1-2 years after planting. In spring, summer and fall, keep your potted Citrus in a location with 1/2 day to full sun. In the winter, place your plant in a well-lit room.
