The Red Chokecherry or Prunus virginiana var. virginiana is a deciduous tree that commonly grows up to 9 feet tall. Fragrant white flowers bloom in cup-like 5-lobed arrangements. These flowers are then followed by clusters of globular berries that ripen to dark purple in August. The Red chokecherry is native from Central-Eastern Canada (Manitoba to Newfoundland and Labrador).
