Chaenomeles japonica 'Cido' fruit have an exceptional flavour, and are wonderful in jellies or syrups. They thrive in full sun. Its thornless nature makes harvesting fruit easy. Absolutely beautiful orange blossoms in early spring. It features deep green undulated leaves with dark brown margins. A relatively compact ornamental, it grows to 5 ft tall and wide. Planting a cultivar of Chaenomeles x superba (Chaenomeles japonica × C. speciosa) nearby, could increase Cido's fruit yield. Cido thornless flowering quince can be used as an early blooming ornamental shrub, or for its fruit production.
