Blue Ice Amsonia (Amsonia 'Blue Ice') is a compact, clump forming perennial with beautiful periwinkle blue, star-shaped flowers. The bright green foliage turns a brilliant gold in autumn, giving your garden colour all season long.
In late spring, Blue Ice Blue Star plant has plump, navy buds above bright green, narrow-leaved foliage. These buds open to clusters of periwinkle blue, star-shaped flowers (hence the name Periwinkle Blue Star). The flowers will bloom for 5 weeks or more, from late spring to early summer.
Blue Ice Amsonia plant is an easy to grow perennial, preferring sun to partial shade, and moist, well drained soil. Its neat, compact form creates a stunning display when massed along borders, especially in autumn when the leaves turn a brilliant gold.
Blue Ice Bluestar is a cultivar that is very similar in appearance to Amsonia tabernaemontana, however, it is more compact, and produces darker flowers.
