The Canadian Columbine feature 1-2 inch wide bell shaped flowers with scarlet sepals, pink and yellow petals, and yellow stamens. The nodding flowers elegantly rise above fern-like foliage. Aquilegia canadensis, also known as the Eastern Red Columbine, is native to Canada and the genus name comes from the Latin word for eagle, which references the flowers five spurs that resemble an eagle’s talon.
