During winter, the tiny black seeds of Blue Fortune Agastache plant are very popular with chickadees, sparrows and juncos.

Growing up to 3 feet tall with a spread of 2 feet, Agastache 'Blue Fortune' does well as a foundation or mass planting perennial, and can be an effective border plant near patios and walkways. Drought tolerant, Blue Fortune Anise Hyssop thrives best in dry to moist, but well-drained soil. Preferring sunny spots, it can be used in rock gardens and for xeriscaping, as well in the classic garden. Deer and rabbit resistant. The flowers also make good dried and fresh cut arrangements to be enjoyed indoors.

The edible foliage has a pleasant minty-licorice flavour, hence two of its common names, Anise Hyssop and licorice-mint. The foliage can be added to salads, used to flavour cold drinks / teas, and used for potpourris.
