Galaxy White Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus 'Galaxy White') is a stunning bulbous perennial, popular for its large, rounded clusters of white flowers on sturdy erect stems, amid green strap-like foliage. The 5" clusters of pure white flowers make this Lily of the Nile one of the largest available. Lily of the Nile are typically grown in warmer areas (zone 7 and above), but this new selection is hardy to zone 6! The common name of 'Lily of the Nile' is actually a misnomer, as Agapanthus is native to South Africa.

The showy white flowers and clump forming habit look stunning when used as a specimen, or as a mass foundation planting. Galaxy White African Lily flowers will attract butterflies, hummingbirds and other beneficial pollinators to your garden, in addition to providing attractive cut flowers for your bouquets. After flowering, if the stems are left uncut, they will produce interesting looking black seed pods.

Although Agapanthus appears similar in looks to Allium, Agapanthus will typically bloom later, and throughout the summer into the fall with more stalks per plant. Galaxy White Agapanthus grows well in full sun with dry to moist, well-drained soil.

Galaxy White Lily of the Nile is a good patio container plant. However, if grown this way, the bulbs will need to be stored in a cool location indoors in the winter. When grown in the ground, the bulbs are hardy to Zone 6. This plant should be given some winter protection.
