Sungold False Cypress is a mounding, conical, dwarf, evergreen coniferous shrub. The highly attractive foliage is drooping, thread-like, golden yellow on new growth, and bright green on old growth. Small, non-showy cones appear during the summer. This Gold False Cypress is non-flowering, and will produce few cones if any, on small plants.
Works well as an accent, foundation, or specimen plant in the garden. If grown large, they can also be used as low hedges. Sungold Threadleaf Japanese False Cypress is hardier, and more drought tolerant than other varieties of Chamaecyparis pisifera. This shrub grows slowly and will likely remain at 5 ft tall, however it is possible to grow up to 8 ft tall if left unpruned. This elegant evergreen will add colour in your garden in the fall and winter.
