Rosa 'Winnipeg Parks' is an extremely hardy, dense bush rose, with clusters of semi-double fuschia blooms. Its lightly scented flowers bloom repeatedly throughout the summer until first frost. Young foliage is maroon, turning dark green with red tips as it matures. Growing 3 - 4 ft tall and wide, it is perfect for planters and small gardens. Lovely in cottage, contemporary, and traditional gardens. Attracts butterflies.
'Winnipeg Parks’ was developed in 1990 and is part of the Morden Canadian Parkland Series of roses, developed at the Morden Research Station in Manitoba. One feature of Parkland roses that distinguishes them from other Canadian hardy shrub roses is their tolerance to freezing down to the snow line or the ground. This freezing back keeps these roses more compact. Parkland roses are hardy to -35 °C with only snow as protection, and are disease-resistant.
