Salud Embers Sneezeweed is a upright, compact Helen's Flower selection from the SALUD™ series. Grayish green, lance-shaped foliage grows in dense clumps.
The warm flowers have wedge-shaped, triple lobed, crimson red rays with golden yellow tips and large dome-like centers. This Yellow and Red Sneezeweed blooms from July to September. Remove spent flowers to promote additional blooms. Great for cut flowers. The blooms are beneficial for pollinator species like bees and butterflies.
Helenium autumnale 'Salud Embers' grows best in full sun with moist to wet organically rich soil, however it is intolerant of dry soil. The plants should be divided every 3-4 years to maintain health and appearance.
The name ‘Sneezeweed’ comes from the past use of this plant being dried and used as snuff.
