The Goat's Beard plant is a tall, bushy-looking, native perennial with feathery plumes of cream-coloured flowers in summer. A mound forming plant, it grows up to 6 ft tall. Its bold, arching plumes (up to 20”) are densely covered with clusters of small florets, and resemble a large, airy Astilbe. Goat's Beard plumes make wonderful cut flowers.
Use Aruncus dioicus as a specimen, planted en masse, as a background plant in a border, or a transitional perennial at the edge of landscaped areas to woodlands. Use in small groups at the edge of a woodland path or mix with iris, and ground covers in lightly shaded area. Bride's Feathers is a natural near water features, in sun or shade. Goat's Beard flowers attract bees and butterflies, and it the host plant for the Dusky Azure butterfly.
Native to damp, fertile woods, and mountainous areas the species is native to North America.
