An upright, tall (to 6.5 ft), clumping Miscanthus cultivar that spreads to 4 ft wide, Miscanthus sinensis 'Encore' is considered a reblooming Maiden Grass, hence its name "Encore". It blooms both late summer and mid fall. Large whitish beige plumes rise almost two feet above the lovely green foliage, and fade to a charming tan with age.
Hardy to Zone 5a, Encore Maiden Grass will grow in full sun or partial shade. While this early-blooming Miscanthus will grow in average to poor soil, it does like consistent water. Provides wonderful interest, and attracts birds to the fall and winter garden.
A deer resistant, salt tolerant and easy to grow ornamental grass that is equally at home in a formal garden as a modern, or rock garden. It can be used as cut flowers and cut foliage to make beautiful arrangements.
