Showy spring blooms of elongated white panicles give way to drooping clusters of cherries that ripen in late summer. Although inedible fresh, the fruit is used to make jams and jellies, and to flavour liquours. A highly ornamental cultivar, it is noted for its attractive summer foliage, and fall colour. The Black Cherry tree is extremely cold hardy.
