A beautiful small ornamental willow with delightful pink catkins (April to May), Salix candida is perfect for the small garden. Wonderful in rock and alpine gardens, planters and containers. This male selection is very hardy (zone 2a) and native from most Canadian provinces. It grows up to 4 feet tall and wide.
Loaded with personality, its upper leaf surface is dark green and covered in fine hairs, and the underside is dull and velvety with wooly white hairs. New branches are similarly covered in wooly hairs. As they mature in the second year, they become hairless, slender and are gray brown in colour.
