Solidago canadensis 'Little Miss Sunshine' (Goldenrod) is a compact, dwarf goldenrod variety that produces arching, feathery bloom clusters with an abundance of small golden yellow flowers. Blooms from July to September. This compact goldenrod grows to 18 inches tall, and can grow as wide. The narrow, green leaves are lanceolate in shape. This dwarf cultivar has been selected in particular for its richly branched umbels and its reliability to bloom on its first year.
Goldenrods are among the most essential plants to the maintenance of North American ecosystems. This is an important plant for sunny flower beds (yields the best blooms in full sun), pollinator gardens, butterfly gardens, and bigger containers. Use to attract, feed and provide habitat for pollinators, and small mammals. Plant at the front of borders to attract Monarchs and other butterflies.
A long-flowering, disease resistant, heat and drought tolerant perennial once established. Easy to care for and extremely hardy (to USDA Zone 2a). Black walnut tolerant. Little Miss Sunshine canadian goldenrod does not spread aggressively, like other goldenrod cultivars.
