Blue Star Gentian is a beautiful upright perennial from the Netherlands. This Blue Gentian is a mutation of Gentiana makinoi ‘Marsha’ obtained in 2010. It has a dense upright globular shape.
A profusion of erect, trumpet-shaped, sky blue to violet blue coloured flowers appears over the short foliage. Remove spent flowers to promote more flower production. Stems grow in average up to 30 cm (1 ft) and flowers can reach up to 4cm (1.5").
Beneficial to pollinator species, Gentiana makinoi 'Blue Star' grows best in full sun and humus-rich, consistently moist but well-drained soil.
