Chaenomeles x superba is a hybrid japanese quince resulting from the cross between Chaenomeles japonica and Chaenomeles speciosa. Chaenomeles x superba 'Jet trail' is a compact, spreading shrub to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. A profusion of pure white flowers in early spring is follow by dark green leaves and green fruits which ripen to yellow. The fragrant fruits are hard and tart which make them difficult to consume raw. Cooked they can be made in jelly. This compact white flowering quince is perfect to add some colour, in a small garden in early spring!
