Salix myrsinifolia ‘Blackskin’ has superb shiny, black stems. The fresh black rods turn dark red, almost black when dried for basketry purposes. Blackskin Willow produces long thin stems that are great for fine basketry, and add black accents to any design. Coppice annually for more stem production. This shrub is used extensively for living willow structures due to its beautiful supple black stems, and dark green foliage. Grows to 8 ft (2.4 m) if not coppiced, but remains compact – perfect for smaller gardens. Its winter stems add great interest to the garden. Mix this black-stemmed willow with yellow-stemmed willows to make the best cut arrangements. Attracts bees. Fresh stem colour: black. Dry stem colour: dark red, almost black.
