Dianthus ‘Pink Fire’ is a showy evergreen perennial, recognized for its colourful and fragrant flowers and foliage. This Pink Cheddar Pink foliage is silvery steel-blue. It grows in spreading clumps, and has a strong, clove-like fragrance. The flowers are hot, fiery pink carnations, have semi-double blooms, are larger than the traditional ‘Cheddar Pink’ or ‘Firewitch varieties, and appear on tall, wiry stems between June and July.
Remove spent flowers to encourage new blooms. This is a low maintenance plant with a fair tolerance to drought and hot summers. Works well in rock gardens, as a border, or as a ground cover.
