Add interest to the winter garden and habitat for birds with Panicum virgatum 'Prairie Dog', a very nice shorter Switch Grass. Prairie Dog Switch Grass grows to 4 ft tall, with cool blue foliage and airy rosy blooms on sturdy stems that are able to withstand heavy snow. Wonderful as a vertical accent in the garden or landscape, or in mass plantings.
This Upright Switch Grass grows best in full sun, and average soil, with well drained to dry soil. Prune in early spring. Hardy to zone 4a.
