Gibraltar Azalea, also known as Gibraltar Rhododendron is an incredibly showy, award winning, medium sized, deciduous shrub. The blooms are bright fiery orange coloured, funnel shaped, have ruffled petals, and appear in early to late spring. Gibraltar deciduous Azalea is a successful hybrid introduced in 1947 and has received awards from the American Rhododendron Society and the Royal Horticulture Society.

This is an eye-catching Orange Azalea, perfect as a specimen or as a low hedge. Azaleas can be picky, but are easy to grow with proper care. They are best suited in an area with partial shade, but they do appreciate some cool morning sunlight. These shrubs do very well in an acidic, organically rich, humus soil. Do not let the roots dry out and keep the soil moist but with sufficient drainage as this plant will suffer if in standing water. Also, consider applying mulch around the plant to keep the shallow roots cool in the summer.
