Viburnum lentago, commonly called nannyberry due to the snacking propensity of nanny goats makes a wonderful hedge, and jam and jelly fruit. A beautiful shrub with all season interest. Masses of creamy white flower clusters emerge in the spring, and although they are not fragrant, they attract pollinators. Blooms are followed by wonderful, pendulous bluish black drupes, on red stems. This fruit often persists into winter, attracting birds and wildlife. Handsome glossy green foliage shows red shades in the fall.

Nannyberry is large, upright, deciduous shrub, which typically grows to 10-18' tall with a spread of 6-12'. Although many stemmed and suckering, it may also be grown as a small, single trunk tree, which may reach a height of 30'. A very hardy variety, it can be grown in USDA zones 2-8.
