Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' (Golden Variegated Hakone Grass) is simply one of the most attractive ornamental grasses. It has layered weeping foliage reminiscent of bamboo. Hakone's variegated yellow and green blades stand out in any garden. Tall, green slender spikes bloom in late summer to early fall, growing to 1.5 ft in height. It's clumping nature, soft-edge and shade tolerance, make it a perfect shrub border. Golden Variegated Japanese Forest Grass is perfect for the formal Japanese garden. Plant with Japanese Blood Grass for excellent contrast and impact.
