Morden Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata 'Morden') is a hardy, multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with an upright spreading habit of growth. This Dwarf Japanese Yew grows to 4 feet tall and 7 feet wide. Its dense foliage tends to fill out right to the ground – making it a great foundation plant, low hedge, and topiary candidate. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other conifers; and makes it a wonderful addition to plantings of grouped conifers.

Mounded branches of beautiful deep green needles emerge bright green in spring. The ferny sprays of foliage remain dark green throughout the winter. The fruits are showy red drupes displayed from early to late fall.

Morden Spreading Japanese Yew is a relatively low maintenance shrub, and can be pruned at any time. It performs well in both full sun and full shade. Will benefit from being planted in more sheltered areas of your garden (protect from hot, dry, and windy locations). The taxine alkaloids contained in yew berries, needles or bark are poisonous.

Morden Dwarf Japanese Yew does best in average to evenly moist conditions, and will not tolerate standing water. Tolerant of pollution, drought, rabbits and deer. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 50 years or more.
