The Climbing Hydrangea (Hydrangea petiolaris) is a hardy, versatile vine with year round interest. Try this beauty as a climber against walls, on arbours, fences, low stone walls, and even tree trunks. Masses of fragrant white flowers bloom from May to July. The foliage of heart shaped dark green leaves turns golden yellow in the fall. This hydrangea's beauty continues in the winter, when the cinnamon bark emerges, and is a slash of colour against the snow. The Japanese Climbing Hydrangea thrives best in partial to full shade exposure.
